Hair Transplant Options

Micropigmentation is a fantastic alternative to, OR a compliment to a hair transplant.

Whether you are currently looking into hair transplant options, or have previously had surgery – you no doubt already know they can be extremely expensive, are painful with the results taking up to six months, and often produce patchy, inconsistent results meaning your secret is out!

Whilst a hair transplant relocates hair to different parts of your head, hair tattoos instantly create the illusion of thicker, fuller hair without surgery or drugs – producing a fantastic, finished result in under two weeks. Who knows – you could save yourself a fortune?

Did you know that many transplant clinics are now recommending micropigmentation BEFORE your transplant to give you some level of coverage while you are waiting for the hair to grow? There are so many ways to use hair transplants and micropigmentation together.

Contact us today to chat through your options – we are happy to share the first hand experiences we have heard through a wide range of our post transplant clients.

Hair Transplant Density

Is your hair transplant just not dense enough? Many are left disappointed with their hair transplant and still suffering density issues, with the main areas needing attention usually being the hairline and crown. Scalp micropigmentation is a fantastic way to finish off and enhance your new look so you can wear your investment with pride.

Hair can be implanted in the wrong direction or position, leaving further exposed areas of your scalp or maybe excess hair fell out post transplant.

Scar-like tissue in both the recipient and donor areas can hold imperfections and is extremely common – leading to you feeling unhappy with the finished hair transplant result, and embarrassed of the pink exposed scalp tissue left behind. What is the point in getting a hair transplant, only to have to wear your hair in a style you wouldn’t normally choose – just to cover your scars or sparse areas?

Micropigmentation offers breathtaking results, hiding the lack of density that is often left as a result of this treatment – not forgetting its fantastic ability to discreetly cover those scars where needed.

Hair transplants and micropigmentation together, is a fantastic way to prevent needing to go through the surgery again – expecting a better result!

Scar Coverage

Nobody wants to go through hair transplant surgery just to worry about visible scars. Residual scarring can affect your self-image and have an impact on the final result. Because scar tissue is made of fibers, not skin cells, it does not have hairs, sweat glands or blood vessels and generally has a pale or pink shiny appearance.

FUT Scars

FUT hair transplants leave a long noticeable linear scar through the donor area (generally the back of the head). These scars may widen over time and can lead to large areas of disfigurement. Many clients are left needing to wear their hair longer to conceal the scarring but, in some cases, the scars are apparent even with the hair at a decent length. Strip scars can change the direction of hair growth above and below the scar so the hair on the back of the head doesn’t sit right. This prevents you from being able to cut the hair short as the scar is then exposed.

A more prominent FUT linear scar could happen for many reasons:

● A tight scalp
● An incision too low on the scalp
● Poor surgical technique
● An incision too short or too long. In many instances, scars are too wide from the beginning. Others widen with time, causing soft tissue irregularity.

With scalp micropigmentation and hair transplant together, you’ll get a more natural coverage all over and disguise any gaps left by the surgery. Where the hair doesn’t grow, SMP tattoos will create the illusion of full hair.

FUE Scars

lthough FUE scarring is generally considered less invasive than FUT, all FUE hair transplants
do leave scarring.
The FUE process involves cutting around each hair follicle individually using a small punch
(0.7mm-0.9mm). These scars appear as pin-point scarring or what is described as a
moth-eaten appearance at the back of the scalp in the donor area.
More prominent FUE scars can be created by:

  1. Too many hairs being extracted from the back of the head. Whilst 1 of those tiny punches may not be visible to the naked eye – 2000, 4000, 5000 of those holes punched from the same area will certainly draw the eye
  2. The surgeon not spreading out the extraction of hair follicles. This means too many hair
follicles in a small area have been taken out, leaving patchy areas of no hairs.
